The Box Hill U3A Oil Painting Class held its most recent exhibition and sale at the End-of-Year Break-up Party in November. It was a welcomed opportunity for class members to showcase the fruits of their labour over the year and for the rest of the membership to enjoy the display. The Oil Painting Class also provides artwork for hanging at the Strabane Avenue Office. Paintings from new and long-standing members are rotated regularly behind the reception desk in the office. The contribution to the relaxed and cheerful nature of the office has been commented on many times. Activities at the Friday morning class include painting practice, mutual assistance with painting difficulties and the constructive critique of completed paintings. There is also the occasional demonstrations by a professional artist and presentations on various aspects of oil painting.
