Walking Group Program

The Walking Group hits the footpaths and hiking trails of the eastern suburbs each Wednesday morning. A different co-ordinator each term ensures a variety of landscapes and by-ways, and the secondary interest of the group is socialisation. Statistician Alan Tipping says the group ambles about 220 km each year - although that's only about 9 km a session.
For more leisurely walkers, there is a separate group starting from the same point each week but with a shorter goal. Exercise is followed by a lunch opportunity, and conversations often carry on to the telephone in the afternoon.
The group also supports other community and U3A activities, including publicity drops into target letterbox areas, and sign-posting to help with speed limit awareness.
